Canberra Community Law is a community legal centre providing legal services to people on low incomes or facing other disadvantage in Canberra and its region. Our vision is a just and empowered community.
We are committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for all clients, visitors, staff and volunteers at Canberra Community Law.
You have a right to:
- be treated politely and with respect;
- be kept informed on matters involving you;
- understand what assistance we can and cannot provide to you;
- have your confidentiality respected;
- have a support person present as you receive assistance;
- have access to an interpreter;
- raise a concern or make a complaint.
To assist us in providing legal services to you, we ask you to:
- treat staff, volunteers and other service users politely and with respect at all times;
- not act in a rude, aggressive or abusive manner towards staff, volunteers or other service users;
- not act in a way that compromises anyone’s safety;
- Not enter the work or other areas unless invited to do so;
- Provide complete, relevant and accurate information so that we can provide you with correct legal advice and assistance;
- Let us know if your contact details/circumstances change;
- attend appointments and if you do are not able to do so, let us know;
- understand that as a community legal centre, we have limited resources and there are limits to what assistance we can provide.
