Canberra Community Law in the News

Community Legal Centres nationally are facing significant funding cuts from July 2017. In response to these proposed cuts, Canberra Community Law's Executive Director/Principal Solicitor has authored an opinion piece inviting Senator George Brandis to spend a day with our lawyers and clients.

Human Rights Commission 2015 Law Award Winner

The head of Canberra Community Law, Genevieve Bolton has been awarded the Australian Human Rights Commission’s 2015 Law Award. In her speech accepting the award, Genevieve highlighted the funding crisis facing community legal centres across Australia, including Canberra Community Law. In 2017, the sector is facing a massive 30% reduction in Commonwealth Government funding. These unprecedented cuts will severely impact the ability of Canberra Community Law to assist the most vulnerable members of the Canberra community.
